Jajpur: Two youths were drowned in Gabapala irrigation dam at Kalakala in Jajpur on Thursday while fishing in it. Both the bodies were fished out by the fire brigade. The deceased have been identified as Dambaru Pradhan, 40, and Padia Nayak, 28, of Dehurigada village under Barachana police station in Jajpur. The police said the duo had gone for fishing in the dam. While fishing, Padia failed to swim and started drowning. When Dambaru noticed Padia struggling for life, the former tried to save him following which he was also drowned. Bhubaneswar: There would be a second phase of e-counselling for Orissa Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) rank holders in September as decided by the policy planning body of OJEE. The dates for various courses are as followed: September 3 for pharmacy, September 5-6 for MBA and MCA, September 7-8 for lateral entry into engineering, September 9-11 for engineering. The provisional seat allotment list would be declared within three to four days of counselling for each course. Bhubaneswar: The state pollution control board has directed authorities of Vedanta Aluminum Limited, Jharsuguda, to reduce the pollutant emission. The board said Jharsuguda had turned into a critically polluted area owing to pollution emitted by various industries at the locality. Cuttack: Criminals on Thursday tried to loot a person after drugging him at Mangalabag. The person, identified as Krushna Chandra Nayak, 28, of Jagatsinghpur, came to S.C.B. hospital for his wife’s delivery on August 20. Two youths befriended Nayak at gynaecology department and drugged him on Wednesday. No complaint has been lodged so far. Cuttack: The body of a person was found under mysterious circumstances near OMP square on Wednesday night. The deceased has been identified as D. Krishna. Rao, 40, a class IV employee with the railways. It was suspected that Rao had died because of excess bleeding following a severe head injury. The police said Rao, who recently had come out of a rehab centre, was still consuming liquor and might have died in a road mishap.
