Bhubaneswar, Oct. 9: The Council of Higher Secondary Education has introduced several new online initiatives for the convenience of students registering for next year's annual exam.
The form fill-up for Plus Two examinees began on October 1 and is being done online.
The form has been made available online to all the colleges through e-space, which the students will have to fill up and submit online.
Following the submission of forms, text messages will be sent to the students on their mobile phones regarding their names, parents' names, subjects taken, category and sex for the verification before the online form is accepted.
In case there are any mistakes and the students want to make rectify those, the colleges can update the data online.
"Earlier, we used to face difficulties if there was any error or spelling mistakes in the names. We had to write an application and still remained unsure if they would get it right in the admit card. Now, this will be a lot more easier," said Jyotishikha Bhoi of Capital Girls' High School.
Moreover, the college authorities now can also save time regarding distribution of admit cards among the students. Instead of waiting for the council office to send the admit cards, the authorities can now simply download those and issue the same to the students with the countersignature of the principal.
This apart, the existing SAMS mobile application has been enhanced to add several new features for the convenience of students. The admit card authentication can also be done through the mobile app.
"For SMS alerts and notification, the students have been asked to keep a mobile. Also to check malpractice, the students are being asked to upload coloured photographs. We are trying to make the process easy and quick, so that it becomes hassle free and time saving," said council chairman Basudev Chattoi.
The principals and college officials have been trained on the new online methods, and the authorities are hopeful that the form fill up procedure will be over without any hurdles.
The examinations are scheduled in the first week of March 2016, and the practical exams will be held in January.
Buoyed by its success last year, this time, the council has plans to include more number of subjects for e-evaluation.
"Last time, our initiative of e-evaluation was a successful one. We have, therefore, decided to include more subjects such as English and MIL under e-evaluation. Keeping our infrastructure and trained manpower in mind, we would decide whether to include other streams in the process as well," said Chattoi.
The council has also decided to streamline the evaluation method and get the processes done under one roof. Instead of getting the papers evaluated at scattered locations, the council plans to carry out the entire evaluation at its own building.
