Protesters demand killers’ arrest
Bhubaneswar/Cuttack: Students of Kishore Nagar college and several women organisations on Thursday staged a demonstration and surrounded the local police station demanding the immediate arrest of the persons involved in the rape and murder of a 25-year-old woman.A special investigation team should be constituted to nab the people involved in the incident. If the police fails to arrest the accused involved in the gruesome incident within 72 hours, the administration as well as the police should be prepared to face the repercussion and public wrath,” BJP leader Bijay Mohapatra, who visited the area last evening, said on Thursday. Bhubaneswar: The state government will train teachers for administering iron tablets to schoolchildren in the wake of a mishap related to consumption of the supplementary capsules. Over 115 students in a Puri school and 10 in a Balangir school were hospitalised after taking the tablets before their midday meal. The government has ordered a probe into the incidents. Bhubaneswar: Maoists have called a bandh in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh on October 5 to protest against the “cold-blooded massacre of 13 villagers” by security forces in Podia block of Malkangiri. Jagabandhu, the spokersperson for the Andhra-Odisha border committee of the Maoists, claimed none of the 13 victims gunned down by the police were Maoists. All the victims were innocent villagers, he said.
