Jajpur: Work at Tata Steel’s Kalinga Nagar plant stopped after agitators locked its three gates seeking compensation and rehabilitation on Wednesday. According to the state’s relief and rehabilitation policy, all those who have become adult after January 1, 2005, are treated as a separate family. “Those agitating now were minors when the cut-off date was fixed. Adults in their families have been rehabilitated and compensated,” said additional district magistrate Chakraudha Hota. Berhampur: About 2,500 Tibetan refugees living at the Phuntsokling Tibetan Refugee Settlement at Chandragiri in Gajapati district since 1963 have appealed to the United Nations to take special measures to uphold their religion, language and culture.
