Bhubaneswar: With a large number of seats lying vacant in various engineering colleges, the state government has decided to amend the lateral entry provisions for admission of diploma holders from outside the state to fill up the degree engineering seats.

New board

Bhubaneswar: The state government has reconstituted the Odisha Water Supply and Sewerage Board under the chairmanship of the housing and urban development minister for the next three years. The housing and urban development secretary will be vice-chairman of the nine-member board.

Two killed

Malkangiri: Maoists shot dead two persons, including a village head, suspecting them to be police informers at Badaliguda village in the Kalimela police station limits early on Friday. The deceased have been identified as Deba Padiami, 30, and Ganga Madkami, 45.

Arrested

Balasore: Remuna police arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly committing sexual offences against three minors on Thursday evening. The medical examination of accused Sk Maniruddin of Ganpiur village has been conducted and he would be produced in court on Saturday, said inspector-in-charge R.K. Murmu.

Murder

Baripada: Mayurbhanj police have detained three persons, including the husband of a woman, after her body was found under suspicious conditions on Friday. The deceased’s was Sunha Soren.
