Bhubaneswar: Chief secretary J.K. Mohapatra held a videoconference with public prosecutors and assistant public prosecutors and directed them to expedite long-pending compoundable forest cases against tribal people, apart from forest encroachment cases. They have been asked to enlist cases to be taken up at the national level lok adalat on Sunday and those to be disposed of under Motor Vehicles Act, Police Act and other cases related to seizure of liquor under Excise Act. Bhubaneswar: The state’s first supplementary budget for 2013-14 will be approved at the state cabinet meeting on Saturday. The budget will be presented on the second day of the winter session of the Assembly beginning November 28. Bhubaneswar: Police cracked down on a clandestine gutka factory in the dense forests of Nayagarh. The team seized gutka-manufacturing machinery and raw materials. Two persons were arrested.
