Worker killed

Dhenkanal: One contractual worker, Alekh Behera, 27, died in an accident at GMR Kamalanga power plant here on Thursday. Inspector in charge of Kantabania police station Jitendra Sahu said Behera was working in the plant when he fell down from about 60ft height around 9am and died on the spot. Irate local people staged dharna in front of the plant gate demanding compensation and job to his family members. They called off the dharna after the plant management agreed to pay Rs 15 lakh towards the compensation and a job to his wife.

Transfers

Bhubaneswar: The state government on Thursday rejigged collectors of four districts — Puri, Nayagarh, Balangir and Malkangiri. The transfers were made after clearance from the state election commission. D. Prasanth Kumar Reddy was posted as Malkangiri collector, Hemanta Kumar Padhi as Nayagarh collector, M. Muthukar as Balangir collector and Dhiren Patnaik as collector of Puri.

Three held

Sambalpur: Police arrested three persons for allegedly attacking officials of Aditya Aluminium on Wednesday. The accused have been identified as Nabin Oram, 30, Sradhakar Pandey, 40, and Tulsi Oram, 40. hree HR officials, including a woman official, were on their way to their office in a vehicle on Wednesday. However, the accused waylaid the vehicle at Pandloi bridge on the State Highway-10 in the Rengali police station limits and attacked them.
