Ten hurt in clash

Paradip: At least six policemen and four civilians were injured in a clash between the cops and a mob at Salajanga village near Jagatsinghpur town on Friday. The policemen had gone to investigate at the village following a complaint. he police have arrested 10 villagers for the attack.

Road mishap

Bhubaneswar: Two college students Abinash Palei, 19, and Biswojit Barik, 21, were killed in a road accident at Gudiapokhari on National Highway 203 on the city outskirts. he deceased duo were on their way to Nimapara on a motorcycle when a tourist bus hit the two-wheeler from behind and crushed them under its wheels. Palei died on the spot, while Barik succumbed to his injuries at Capital Hospital. Pipli police registered a case against the bus driver and seized the bus from Puri.

Cave-in arrest

Bhubaneswar: Police arrested dump yard in charge of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited Ramesh Pradhan for negligence in his duty. Ten persons were killed on August 10 in a cave-in at a waste coal dump near an open cast mine of the company in Sundargarh district. he victims, who were residents of nearby villages, were scavenging for coal in the dump yard at the Kulda open cast mine in Basundhara-Garjanbahal area when, loosened by overnight rain, it sunk.
