Duo held with Maoist literature, weapons
Bhubaneswar: Gajpati police on Wednesday arrested Kailash Mandal and Sangram Mohanty, son of Maoist sympathiser and Jan Adhikar Manch convener Dandapani Mohanty with weapons and Maoist literature apart from some cash. The police said the duo, nabbed near Kamlapur Square in Mohana, were carrying the weapons and the propaganda material for Maoist leader Sabyasachi Panda. Apart from two guns and 95 rounds of ammunition, the police also seized Rs 16,000 from them. Balasore: Jharkhand police, with the assistance of their counterparts in Balasore, on Wednesday nabbed two goons of Dhanbad from a local lodge and rescued a businessman abducted by them last Sunday. The duo had allegedly demanded ransom worth Rs 25 lakh from the family members of the businessman for his release. Bhubaneswar: The Opposition parties on Wednesday demanded a CBI probe into the alleged seed scam in the state. They alleged that the government had procured various spurious and substandard seeds worth over Rs 1,000 crore from private firms. Sambalpur: Four persons, including a minor, allegedly involved in a dacoity case in Brajarajnagar, Jharsuguda were arrested on Wednesday. The loot had taken place on October 21. The minor had allegedly looted Rs 13.50 lakh cash from the godown of Dilip Agrawal of Brajarajnagar. The three others allegedly came to know about the minor’s involvement and had been demanding money from him.
