Cops plan hassle-free darshan of Lord

Bhubaneswar: Special arrangements are being made to ensure that there is no interruption in the darshan of Lord Jagannath and his siblings atop the chariots during rath yatra. irector general of police Prakash Mishra said steps were being taken for evening darshan of devotees in front of Gundicha temple.

Utkal entrance

Cuttack: Utkal University will conduct entrance tests for regular and sponsored post-graduation courses as well as MPhil and PhD programmes between July 12 and 22. Admit cards will be made available on the varsity website (www.utkaluniversity.ac.in) five days before commencement of each test.

BPUT calendar

BHUBANESWAR: Biju Patnaik University of Technology released an academic calendar for 2013-14 to help students, teachers and stakeholders to develop an action plan and execute it meticulously. A student grievance cell has also started where students can register their complaints online.

Timber seized

Bhubaneswar: Rourkela forest officials seized a truck loaded with wood logs worth Rs 5 lakh at Birsa in Sundergarh. The truck was going to Jharkhand side from Saranda forest area. The vehicle had two fake registration numbers.

Lightning

Kendrapara: Three persons, including a school student, were injured as lightning struck a government high school at Chakroda village here. Midday meals were being served when the lightning struck, injuring Class VIII student Rita Sahu, teacher Abhaya Nayak and cook Minati Rout. Another lightning burst also claimed two lives.

Caught

Balasore: Police arrested a person in connection with the murder of a businessman on June 16 near Digha fish market. Satyaranjan Jena, 23, is being interrogated with the murder of Hemant Mohapatra.
