Rivalry whiff in twin murders

Balangir: Some unidentified assailants killed a trader and his servant at Luhasingha village in the Patnagarh police station area, about 60km from here, on Wednesday night. Villagers found the bodies of Kailash Agrawal, 30, and his servant, Gobardhan Pandey, 22, lying near the trader’s godown on Thursday morning. Their bodies were wrapped in tarpaulin.

NIT rank

Rourkela: National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela, has secured the fifth rank among the best universities in India and 1,067 th in the world, according to a survey conducted by a global research group. The NIT occupied the position in webmetrics ranking of world universities by Cybermetrics lab, a Spain-based international research group.NIT-Rourkela director Sunil Kumar Sarangi said the ranking of NIT was a matter of great pride and profound honour for the entire NIT family, faculty, staff, students and to all others “who helped us in our efforts in achieving this prestigious position.”

Raid

Cuttack: Vigilance sleuths on Thursday unearthed property worth over Rs 50 lakh during a raid on the residence and office of Bichitrananda Padhihary, sales-cum-godown assistant, in the Odisha State Civil Supply Corporation in connection with disproportionate assets case. Official sources said assets worth nearly Rs 55,98,432 were recovered.

Arrest

Bhubaneswar: Three persons were arrested on Thursday in connection with a robbery incident. Rourkela police have also seized cash, sharp weapons and mobile sets from their possession.
