Balasore , Jan. 1: Headmaster of a government-run residential school for tribals is on the run after two students lodged a compliant with police accusing him of molesting them .
The victims in their complaints alleged that they were sexually harassed on two separate days.
The accused Bimal Jena, 50, is the headmaster of Siddheswar High School, Chhachinapada under Betnoti block of Mayurbhanj district.
The police have registered two different cases of molestation and caste atrocity against the headmaster.
The police also carried out raids last evening, but the accused was absconding.
Inspector-in-charge of Betnoti police station Alok Ranjan Roy said: “Though the incidents had occurred on December 17 and 25, the complaints were lodged with the police only last evening”.
According to one of the complainants, Jena had made sexual advances towards her on the evening of December 17 when she was coming out of the bathroom.
He did not stop at that and allegedly molested her there.
The aggrieved student informed her parents about the incident and left the hostel.
Similarly, other victim alleged that on December 25 the headmaster dragged her to the bathroom and tried to molest her when others had gone to the playground.
A local villager said there had been similar accusations against Jena in the past.
Sub-divisional police officer Gopinath Manipatra said: “Police action has started after the complaints were received last evening.”
