Balasore, March 17: In an incident which may sound incredible to many, a man voluntarily married off his wife of six years to her paramour after coming to know about their affair at Pratappur under the district’s Oupada block.

The marriage that took place on Wednesday has become the talk of the village and its adjoining areas. The wedding was solemnised in the presence of two local sarpanch. The husband, Manoranjan Barik (26), who made the sacrifice, was believed to be undergoing mental trauma for a long time after coming to know about his wife Pramila’s affair.

“He was suffering like anything after coming to know that Pramila was in love with someone else. So, we did not object when he decided to marry her off to the man she loved,” said the father of Manoranajan, Trilochan Barik, who is a retired government employee.
