Film award

Fairytale Wall, a short film on compassion won the best film award (school students section) at the 3rd Delhi Shorts International Film Festival 2014. The seven minute film captured the journey of students of the SAI International School and how they helped visually impaired kids to read a story without using Braille printed pages.

The students introduced them to a new idea of storytelling with the help of a sensory wall. It stimulated their senses. The students teamed up with their counterparts of Winterbourne International Academy from Bristol, United Kindom, and created a sensory wall that contained the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. This story was translated in small recording boxes in Odia. The story was split into 3 parts and each piece placed on the wall was prepared by hand. A team of 20 students from UK and India worked for four days creating and implementing the project at the Orissa Association for the Blind, which is the home to over 700 visually impaired teachers, employees, and students from all over Odisha.

Docu show

Students of the ODM Public School, Bhubaneswar, made a small documentary film, Prayas, for the Nehru Bal Sangh, a national level organisation based in Delhi. The film was adjudged second in the National Youth Film Festival that was held in Delhi from November 14 to 16. There were about 400 entries for the competition.

The school felicitated the young actors and encouraged them. Celebrities, including Sabyasachi Mohapatra, producer-cum-director of the Odia film industry and noted Odia actor Harihar Mohapatra, were present during the occasion.
