Bhubaneswar, May 28: Resentment has been mounting among students across the state as the CBSE's Class-XII results of many have been withheld.

Apart from the twin cities, results at other schools in areas, such as Jharsuguda, Rourkela and Sambalpur have also been withheld. Sources said that results of around 40 per cent students have been withheld at DAV School, Pokhariput, while 68 students have faced similar situation at Kendriya Vidyalaya-I in Bhubaneswar.

Akshay Panda, a parent, said: "My daughter has been crying inconsolably. She is a bright student and was expecting good marks. But this is really shocking."

The parents also accused the CBSE officials of non-cooperation. "We are planning to move court for the harassment caused to our children. Even if it is a Sunday, some one them should have been there at the office to listen to the grievances of the children," said Anish Behera, another parent.

Around 260 students took the exam from DAV Public School, CDA. But, the results of 154 students have been withheld. The school authorities are also clueless. "We have taken up the issue with the CBSE and they have assured us to carry out the necessary rectification at the earliest," said DAV Public School, CDA, principal Ipsita Das.

"We are hopeful that the results will be out in a day or two," she added.

Despite repeated attempts, CBSE officials could not be reached. Around 58,935 students appeared in the examination from the Bhubaneswar region (consisting of Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Bengal). About 15,000 students appeared in the examination from the state, of whom about 85 per cent passed.

Chief minister Naveen Patnaik today congratulated the students on their success. He wrote on his social networking pages: "Congratulations to my young friends on passing Class XII. Work hard. My best wishes."

Students of a number of schools in Bhubaneswar have fared well. Around 161 students from Mother's Public School, Bhubaneswar, scored above 90 per cent. In the science stream, Soumya Ranjan Dash topped from the school with 96.6 per cent, while Sakar Das topped in commerce stream with 97.8 per cent.

At SAI International School, Bhubaneswar, Chinmaya Mohanty topped the science stream with 96.8 per cent and Mugdha Mohapatra topped the arts stream with 95.6 per cent. From DAV Public School (Unit-VIII) Pratik Kumar Sahoo topped the science stream with 98.2 per cent. The school's Saswat Das has secured 100 per cent marks in both physics and chemistry.

Students who have complaints about their scores can log onto the CBSE website and register their complaints online using their registration number, school number and centre number.
