Bhubaneswar: Students from B.K. College of Fine Arts and Crafts here have come up with innovative designs for a number of products as they seek to outline strategies and tactics to promote their creations.
Each of the 11 final-year applied art student has chosen a different product and designed installations, flexes, posters, calendars and other forms of advertising to promote the items.
Their creations are also on display at an art show "Kalpana" at Lalit Kala Akademi. Head of department Gajendra Padhi said the exhibition was an attempt to make the students ready for the industry.
"We want this to act as a launching pad for them before entering the design industry. The world of advertisement is difficult and it is necessary for them to get hands-on experience," said Padhi.
The artists met experts from the field and held discussions before designing the campaigns.
"Whether you offer a product or a service, or plan to promote your product offline or online, an advertising campaign can guide you through the process. They garnered a number of appealing ways of branding various products apart from working on the slogans and its modalities," Padhi added.
The design campaign also includes 40-second visual advertisements. Each of the videos created for the individual products were also screened for visitors.
Twenty-year-old Susanta Mohanty, who has designed a waterproof ball pen, said: "I chose my product carefully so that I get a lot of options. I wanted to show my creativity along with a product that people can connect."
A home theatre design by Dinesh and trolley bags by Pritha also elicited interest.
A number of students focused on online campaigning and chat advertising.
Biswajit's passion for photography reflected in his designs of a digital camera product.
The exhibition has also attracted art lovers. "The designs are attractive like the T-shirt and calendar ones."
