Bhubaneswar, Feb. 21: An eye-catching range of photographs is grabbing eyeballs at Collections, the art exhibition that had recently showcased creations by painters and sculptors done during camps hosted by the Lalit Kala Akademi here.

The four-day exhibition, which began on Thursday evening at the regional centre of the Akademi, has entries artistes based in Odisha, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Bengal.

Odisha photographer Biswajit Patnaik had brilliantly captured sunlight being reflected in water droplets on a flower bud.

Ashish Dhir does magic with a blurred background highlighting his frame of a langur jumping from the tree.

Prafulla Chandra Dhir, a veteran shutterbug, has clicked a temple and its reflection on a nearby water body. His wide-angle shot has won the appreciation of the visitors.

Young shutterbugs of the state have also captured striking moments. “We are thrilled to see our works displayed alongside the photographs of veterans,” said Chinmay Majhi, whose frame of an old man sitting at the gate of a mosque has won accolades.

Sanjay Shan from Jharkhand encapsulated a part of a temple being splashed with water and the picture made for a lovely visual. Arpan Mukherjee from Bengal clicked a picture that showed an ordinary room of a person from the lower strata of the society.

The black and white picture that shows utensils, small television and posters of deities attracted photography enthusiasts.

Another picture by D.N. Bhaskar from Madhya Pradesh captured the sunrise in the background of a temple. The orange hue spread across the sky with the temple in silhouette was a fascinating one. Bishnu Nandi from Jharkhand was at the right place to capture a monkey caressing a kitten.

Apart from the 40-odd photographs, there are 10 artworks made of bronze that have been displayed.

All the bronze items are either themed on animals or mythical figures. Rajendra Baghel from Chhattisgarh came out with an out-of-the-box idea to create a series of musicians with each playing different instruments.

Pichhalu Nayak of Odisha has created a woman carrying a stack of woods on her head and an infant in her arms.

Art lovers were all praise for some of the artworks.

“I loved the tiny bronze sculptures and some of the photographs. Some snaps were pretty ordinary though,” said Hemant Pradhan, an art enthusiast.
