Bhubaneswar/ Rayagada: BJD's suspended MP Baijayant 'Jay' Panda on Wednesday found an ally to intensify his attack on chief minister's office. This time wife of former chief minister and BJP leader Giridhar Gamang, Hemabati Gamang, has attacked the CMO.

Hemabati had contested the last election from Laxmipur on a BJD ticket.

Panda tweeted: "One after another political leaders have opened their voices and the common people have understood it."

In his tweet that the 3rd floor of the secretariat had connived with BJD leaders to take credit for others' work, Panda directly targeted the chief minister Naveen Patnaik's private secretary V. Karthikeyan Pandian and accused that there was a breakdown of the system.

In response to a tweet by a Odia television channel, Panda on Wednesday wrote back: "This is how low Pandian has taken the once proud BJD, first getting low level party members to *oppose* MPLAD-funded projects, & now "inaugurating" MPLAD projects themselves. MPLAD rules *require* the State Govt / Dist Admin to arrange this with concerned MP. Breakdown of system?"

Panda was upset with the manner in which Marshaghai block chairperson Sitalata Parida inaugurated an overhead water tank project in Purusotampur. The project was funded with Panda's MPLAD fund.

Taking Panda's line, Hemabati, too, accused Pandian of running the BJD and the government single-handedly.

"The chief minister is neither involved in running the government nor taking any interest in party affairs. Pandian is the only person in the state controlling everything," Hembati said, while interacting with her supporters at her village Antarjholi at Ramanaguda block in Rayagada district.

Taking her attack forward, Hemabati said that every file in the government passed through Pandian's table and it was he who decided the fate of important files related to the state.

"There is no democracy in the party and BJD workers work at Pandian's direction to be in his good books," said Hemabati.

However, BJD spokesperson Rabi Narayan Nanda dismissed the former MP's allegations as baseless.

"The BJD had never asked Hemabati to join the party. She with an understanding with Jayaram Pangi had joined the party to get ticket for the 2014 Assembly election. Giving her a ticket was a mistake as not only did she lose the election, but the BJD also lost four out of the five Assembly seats in Koraput as party workers were unhappy with her inclusion," said Nanda.

According to Nanda, after the election, Hemabati was never involved herself in party activities and now as Jayaram Pangi has gone to the BJP, it is possible that she must have made up her mind to join Narendra Modi's party.

"Such allegations are baseless and holds no meaning. Hemabati has no moral rights to accuse the chief minister as she was never involved in party's organisational activities," Nanda said.
