Master of the console: DJ Aqeel will perform at New Marrion Hotel in Bhubaneswar on Friday |
Bhubaneswar, April 10: Revellers can put on their dancing shoes as the top-notch disc jockey of the country, DJ Aqeel, is all set to perform in the city on Friday evening.
‘Forever DJ Aqeel’, the eponymous musical extravaganza, is being organised by Above and Beyond and R.R. Entertainment in association with t2. Being organised at the New Marrion Hotel, this will be Aqeel’s first public performance in Bhubaneswar.
The DJ — whose full name is Aqeel Ali — began his musical journey in 2000.
His concerts across the globe won rave reviews making him a name to reckon with the world of music.
“I am very excited and looking forward to my concert in Bhubaneswar,” said Aqeel, who is the sole DJ to play twice at the World Economic Forum in Davos representing India. He has churned out many best-selling albums over the years. His master collection includes Forever-2 (2012) that consists of songs such as Kya Dekhte Ho, a remake of famous song from the movie Qurbani that gained huge popularity.
Aqeel’s kitty of official remixes includes Edge of Glory by Lady Gaga and songs from Bollywood movies such as Bunty aur Babli (Kajra Re), Om Shanti Om (Dard-e-Disco, Deewangi), Dus Kahaniyaan (Title Track), Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic (Lazy Lamhe), Saawariya et al.
The organisers — Ravi Raj (DJ Ravi), the resident DJ of Mayfair Lagoon, and his friend Sheikh Sabir — are equally thrilled.
“People have earlier tried to bring Aqeel here but could not. We are excited that we have been able to organise a DJ Aqeel night. We have also put up a huge LED backdrop and are confident that it will be a great show,” said DJ Ravi, whose venture Above and Beyond had hosted a grand pool party last year. While music aficionados will line up to enjoy Aqeel’s memorable Bollywood tracks, they can also groove during the opening act by Ravi.
Aqeel will also release Ravi’s first album titled Electro Vibes Unleashed Volume 1 on the occasion.
The album has 10 tracks, a mix of latest and retro songs. The organisers are also planning get rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh for a concert in June.
As for The Telegraph readers, a special t2 photo-opp zone will be in place at the event. One can get clicked at the zone posing with various party props and their well-edited photographs will be mailed to them as a return gift.
