
Bhubaneswar: The Council of Higher Secondary Education will shortly bring changes in the current Plus Two syllabus in all the streams.
According to a source, the syllabus of Plus Two science, arts and commerce was rectified at the revision committee meeting held recently.
"The revised syllabus will be updated shortly on the council website," said a senior official from the council.
The council also decided to bring reforms in the marking pattern in 2019 Plus Two examinations.
A team of experts, including advocates and educationists, have protested against the changes. They met MLA Bhujabala Majhi, who is also a member of the examination committee, and requested him to intervene into the matter calling for implementation of the changes from the 2020 examination.
"If the council introduces the new pattern in the middle of the session then students can face a lot of problems because they have prepared keeping the existing pattern in mind from the beginning of the session," said Manjubala Das, a member of the team.
There were several errors in the syllabus, which was designed according to the CBSE pattern in 2016, for which there were confusion during last examinations and the authorities had to change the schedule of examinations.
"In view of the errors in the syllabus, the authorities made some changes to it," said the council official.
The syllabus of around 150 subjects was revised following discussions wi-th members of the committee. The council released the academic calendar as part of pre-parations for the next annual examinations to be held in 2019.
According to the academic calendar, the Plus Two examinations will begin from the first week of March next year. The practical tests will be held between January 18 and 30. The results of arts, science and commerce will be announced by June 10.
