Bhubaneswar, July 11: Two incidents on the capital’s outskirts today kept the police on their toes.

While local residents blocked a road following death of Pratap Mohanty, 27, a newly married man, in an accident at Mendhasal, Banamalipur villagers beat up a police team conducting raids to seize stolen ornaments.

Mohanty was crushed under the wheels of a truck in the morning while he was travelling on his motorbike towards Mendhasal.

In the second incident, two officials of Saheed Nagar police station were detained by Banamalipur villagers while they were conducting raids to seize stolen gold ornaments.
