Bhubaneswar, Aug. 12: The contractor who ransacked the office of the secretary of the Indian Red Cross in Kharavela Nagar yesterday was arrested last night from Badagada Brit Colony. Police said they traced the mobile phone of the accused, Balaram Pradhan. He was arrested while he was on his way to his friend’s house in Badagada Brit Colony.
“He was booked under several sections of the Indian Penal Code that deal with ransacking a public office and using obscene words,” said a police officer. He was today sent to jail as a local court rejected his bail plea.
The honorary secretary of the state branch of the Indian Red Cross, Mangala Prasad Mohanty, alleged yesterday that Pradhan had entered his office and attacked him with a knife. As he hid himself in the toilet, the accused broke the glass partition wall and chairs in his office. The deputy secretary of the organisation, Madhu Sudan Rao, too complained that Pradhan had attacked him.
