Bhubaneswar: The three zonal offices of the municipal corporation will shortly get their own buildings with the civic authorities initiating the process to prepare a uniform architectural design for the new buildings.

The corporation offices now operate in three parts of the city at Rental Colony, Chandrasekharpur and Old Town in rented buildings.

While land for the north zone office building has been finalised, the same for the other two are yet to be identified.

The civic administration has invited an expert consultant to prepare the architectural designs of the office building, following which an expression of interest will be floated and the ground-level work will begin to commission the projects in Bhubaneswar.

According to the plan, the new office buildings will have uniformity in design and style while the structure will have at least four floors. Each of the buildings will follow the green building norms and have solar rooftop and rainwater harvesting systems, among other things.

The corporation's city engineer Dwaipayana Pattnaik said they had invited a proposal from potential architects for preparing the design for the new buildings. He said: "The consultant will be selected by the end of January and start work shortly afterwards. The design will hopefully be ready by March, following which we will go for other modalities."

He said they had already identified a suitable land for setting up of the north zone office near XIMB Square at Chandrasekharpur.

"We have also identified four sites for the southwest zone office and will select one. Search is on for land to construct the office for the southeast zone," said Pattnaik.
