Culture boost

With an endeavour to showcase the richness of Indian classical dance and music, Mothers Public School in Bhubaneswar organised a lecture-cum-demonstration by world-renowned Indian folk singer and Padma Bhushan recipient Teejan Bai. The programme was conducted by the Spic Macay that has been relentlessly working towards the enhancement of Indian culture and values to the youth of the country who will be the future promoters of Indian heritage.

The eminent artist was accompanied by her team and she gave a glimpse of her art through a riveting performance of Pandavani, a traditional dance form. She presented the Draupadi Swayamvara episode from the Mahabharat and linked it with the present times. The viewers thoroughly enjoyed her unique style of storytelling.

Foundation day

The Delhi Public School, Kalinga celebrated its 13th foundation day on April 13 with a variety of programmes. The flavour was unmistakably Odia culture, history and the Independence movement and it was amply evident in the cultural programmes. Students were dressed up as Odia leaders and martyrs, highlighting their contribution towards the nation.

Mala Mishra, the trustee of the school congratulated the DPSK fraternity on the completion of 12 glorious years of the school. Principal Girija Chand insisted that students should excel in academics and proudly showcase Odia language, culture and tradition on the global platform.

 

Dance competition

An inter-school dance competition was organised by the Shining Stars Play School recently. Around 150 children from schools across Bhubaneswar and Cuttack wholeheartedly took part in classical as well as western dance. The chief guests for the event were Sambhav Mansingh and singer Divya Das.

Hand wash

In order to sensitise school going children on the importance of washing hands, 60 children at the 7th Battalion Primary School were taught the six basic steps of hand washing. The programme was organised by Save the Children, an NGO and the Bhubaneswar-based Centre for Child and Women Development. Children of the school took part in the event with enthusiasm.

Annual event

Bhubaneswar based Maria Montessori School of Little Angel, celebrated its annual function recently. The 12th annual extravaganza was titled Sishu Shakti 2015. The tiny tots of the school presented a vibrant and colourful cultural programme. Bijan Kumar Behera, the chief engineer of National Highways, Odisha was the chief guest at the event. He awarded the students who had excelled in the various competitions.
