Bhadrak murder

Bhadrak: Three juveniles, who were arrested for allegedly kidnapping and murdering a six-year-old from Nanga Mohalla, were produced before the Juvenile Justice Board on Friday. The board sent them to a correctional home in Berhampur. The victim was abducted for ransom and later killed by the trio. Local residents have demanded action against the parents of the accused.

Naveen visit

Sambalpur: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday visited Kalahandi and Sambalpur districts and laid foundation stones for several irrigation projects. In Kalahandi, Naveen joined the BJD organised Vikas rally. A few BJP members were whisked away by police as they tried to wave black flags at the chief minister. 

Constables held

Sambalpur: Three Khetrajpur GRP station constables were arrested for allegedly possessing 49kg of ganja. The accused constables have been identified as Prashanta Behera, Nirmal Prusty and Fakira Sahu.

NIA team in Puri

Puri: An 11-member forensic team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday arrived in the city to probe the November 12 train arson incident. The team, led by NIA SP Prashant Kumar, visited Puri railway station and held discussions with the GRP. 

Honour killing

Malkangiri: Police have begun investigation into the alleged honour killing of a Koya tribal couple at Dhakadapali village of Maneru panchayat in Malkangiri district. Their bodies  were found from Saberi river at Dermapal in Chhattisgarh. There were objections from the community for marriage since they were from the same tribe. They had fled and gone to Andhra Pradesh.

Artha Tatwa

Bhubaneswar: Artha Tatwa deposit collection scam accused Preeti Bhatia deposed before CBI officials. Bhatia appeared before the investigating agency since she was released on bail last month. Bhatia was arrested by the CBI in connection with the multi-crore scam.
