Naveen plea
Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking Rs 5000 crore as assistance in the coming railway budget for the overall development of railway infrastructure in the state. He also requested the Prime Minister to advise railway department to speed up the development of a world class station at Bhubaneswar. Naveen said his government was ready to bear 50 per cent of the cost of an ultra-modern station building at Bhubaneswar.
MoU signed
Bhubaneswar: Tata Steel on Wednesday signed an MoU with the state's sports and youth services department to organise a half-marathon to be held on January 10. This would be a regular event every year to commemorate National Youth Sports Day.
Bail granted
Cuttack: Satyam Raula, the foster son of self-styled spiritual leader Sarathi baba was granted conditional bail by Orissa High Court on Wednesday. According to the bail conditions, Satyam cannot leave the state without permission and he has to co-operate with the crime branch. He would also have to report before an investigating officer every 15 days.

Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday directed the higher education department to ensure laptops and scholarships are handed out to meritorious students on time. This year, the distribution of laptops were delayed by over six months. Similarly, there have been regular complaints about the delay in release of scholarships for the
students.
