Farmer suicide

Cuttack: One more farmer, who allegedly consumed poison on November 5, died at SCB Medical College and Hospital on Tuesday. Debt and crop failure led the farmer, identified as Sanjay Pradhan of Patanda village in Cuttack district, to take the step. 

Lawyer killed

Boudh: A lawyer, Hemanta Sahoo, was axed to death at Bahira village under Banusuni police station on Tuesday morning. Sahoo, a former block president of BJP, had gone on a morning walk when some criminals  attacked him with axes. The lawyer died on the spot. Police suspect previous enmity behind the murder.

Labour meet

Rourkela: The regional labour commissioner held a meeting with the representatives of the trade unions and management representatives of Rourkela Steel Plant on Monday evening. The meeting was called to avoid strikes at the plant in the future.

Counselling

Bhubaneswar: The three-day counselling session for admission to Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine And Surgery would begin from November 13. The counselling will be conducted by the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) at its Gandamunda office near Khandagiri on November 13, 14 and 15.
