Bhubaneswar: Protesters waved black flags at law minister Arun Sahoo on Friday at Kalahandi over de-recognition of Sardar Rajas Medical College by the Medical Council of India. The minister was in Bhawanipatna to launch the distribution of ration cards and later take part in a padyatra by the ruling BJD.

Varsity polls

Bhubaneswar: Students belonging to different political organisations of Utkal University on Friday visited Raj Bhavan and submitted a memorandum addressed to the governor and chancellor of the university S.C. Jamir, urging him to reconsider the varisty’s decision to cancel elections. The PG council of the varsity decided not to hold students’ union poll due to breakdown in law and order situation on campus.

Bombs hurled

Jajpur: Unidentified , motorcycle-borne criminals hurled two bombs at the house of a contractor at Kumari Colony in Jaraka Bazar here on Friday. While no one was injured, the explosion caused panic among local residents.
