BJP letter

Bhubaneswar: The state wing of the BJP on Friday wrote to the Union home minister Rajnath Singh informing him about the violence that took place during the rural polls in the state. The BJP alleged in its letter that the ruling BJD had been trying to manipulate the results at polling stations by deploying local goons. The BJP requested the minister to issue instructions for appropriate action.   

Three killed 

Bhubaneswar: Two persons were killed and ten other suffered injuries in a bus accident near Siribeda in Baipariguda block in Koraput on Friday morning. According to sources, the accident took place when the bus was going to Malkangiri. In another accident, a woman labourer died and two others suffered injuries when a tractor overturned near Talagata in Ghasipura police limits in Keonjhar on Friday morning. The deceased has been identified as Sangini Tudu.

Vigilance  

Sambalpur: Vigilance sleuths on Friday arrested an official of Odisha State Co-operative Marketing Federation Ltd for alleged misappropriation of fertilizers. According to sources, Sudam Chandra Pal, was held for misappropriating fertilizers worth over Rs 42 lakh. 

Kidnap

Bhubaneswar: An elected panchayat samiti member was allegedly kidnapped by the supporters of his defeated rival in Kalahandi. According to sources, the panchayati samiti member Kuni Dandsena of Lanji gram panchayat in Lanjigarh police limits was abducted from her house on Thursday night. The family members of the victim have lodged a complaint at the police station in this regard. 

Shot dead

Bhubaneswar: Goons opened fire at a middle-aged woman killing her on the spot in Jharsuguda on Friday. Police are probing the case.
