Global award

Bhubaneswar: Founder of KIIT and KISS, Achyuta Samant received two gold medals on Monday. 
The Znanie medal and the President's medal were received by him from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) comprising of the erstwhile Soviet states for his contribution in the field of education. The medals were presented by Efim Malitikov, president of IA Znanie at a glittering function held in Moscow. 

Surrender

Rourkela: Five Maoists, including two women surrendered before the security forces on Monday afternoon. The surrender took place at Bonai, one of the most Maoist affected area of Sundargarh district.  
The surrendered Maoists are Karan alias Soma Munda, 25, Rabi alias Dulai Chempa, 20, Raju alias Johan Tirky, 22, Anita Naik alias Karbi, 18 and Surbali Naik 16. 

RSS chief

Bhubaneswar: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohanrao Bhagwat will be visiting Odisha for five days starting from December 11. 

He will review the organisational work of the Sangh's eastern sector comprising Odisha, Bengal,Sikkim and Andaman & Nicobar islands. He will also address Sangh organisers and executives of  these states. 

Molestation

Kendrapara: A 6-year-old girl was allegedly molested by her 16-year-old neighbour in Mohu village under Aul police station of Kendrapara district. 

The incident occurred on Sunday when the Standard II girl of the nearby government-run primary school was alone at her home.

Illegal parking

Berhampur: Police have started taking action against illegal parking of vehicles in Berhampur from Monday. It was initiated to streamline the traffic system in Berhampur. 

Coal output

Angul: Coal productions in Talcher coalfields came to a grinding halt on Monday, hitting coal supply to power sector due to cease work strike by contractual workers.
