A youth organisation that promotions art, craft and culture will organise Odisha Triennial of International Art (OTIA) in Bhubaneswar, Puri and Konark in December.
The festival was recently launched at an event at the National Gallery of Modern Art in New Delhi.
Curator and art historian Johny ML has been roped in for the festival as its curatorial director. The 40-day event will have about 100 topmost Indian artists representing various forms of art.
"Odisha is a state which is rich in culture. It has all the potential to host a mega event like OTIA. The work by artisans in Raghurajpur and various organisations and enthusiasts are doing a good job in promoting them. OTIA will give a boost to the tourism and cultural infrastructure of the state," said Lok Sabha MP Pinaki Misra at the launch.
Artists Jatin Das, Sudhir Patwardhan, Prabhakar Kolte, K.S.Radhakrishnan, Ravider Reddy, Jogen Chowdhury and Laxma Gowd are likely to be a part of the event.
OTIA founder director Sashanka Mohapatra said: "Odisha had several geniuses in art and culture. Every year, we will conduct national-level exhibitions in the state to integrate the art work from cities and tribal pockets. OTIA is a platform where international artists can exhibit their work along with the national artists and state artists."
"Our idea is to create a global feeling about art and culture through the platform by integrating art, music, dance, theatre, film, craft and literature," Johny ML said.
There will be seminars involving experts and scholars from films, theatre, art, music, performance and new media art at the festival.
