Bhubaneswar, Dec. 17: The Government Railway Police (GRP) recovered the body of a 56-year-old man from the railway tracks at VSS Nagar early this morning.
The deceased has been identified as Duryodhan Jena, a resident of Dharmasala in Jajpur district.
He was working with the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) at Mancheswar. Local residents were the first to spot the body on the tracks and informed the police.
Acting on the information, a police team arrived on the spot around 10am and took possession of the body.
Later, the cops sent the body to Capital Hospital for post-mortem. Sources said the man might have been hit by a running train and died on the spot.
But, the police are looking at all possible angles, including those of suicide and murder. "We are investigating the matter and will ascertain the reason behind the death shortly," said a GRP official.
"The body was lying right on the track. I was passing by with my friends when we spotted it. We immediately informed the local police about the incident. The reason behind the death can only be known after proper investigation," said a local resident.
