Guwahati, June 17: Kristi Boro of Assam annexed double crown in the AITA Championship Series Tennis Tournament that concluded at All Assam Tennis Association complex here today.

She bagged the under-12 and under-14 girls' singles titles. In under-12 event, she defeated Bhumi Shekhar of Bengal 6-1, 6-0 and in the under-14 final, she beat Sweta Samanta of Bengal 4-6, 6-1, 6-0.

In the semi-finals yesterday, top seed Kristi defeated third seed Sweta Samanta 6-3, 6-1 in the under-12 event, while in under-14, second seed Kristi got the better of unseeded state mate Harshita Borah 6-0, 4-6, 6-2 in a hard-fought semi-final.

Fourth seed Bhumi upset second seed statemate Aarya Zalte 6-2, 6-3 in the under-12 semi-final yesterday.

In the under-14 category, Sweta defeated seventh seed Areena Phukan of Assam 6-1, 6-1 in the round of four.

Anurag Buragohain of Assam won the boys' under-14 singles crown beating statemate Hrykpb Borah 6-0, 6-2.

In the semi-finals yesterday, second seed Anurag got the better of seventh seed Arunesh Bora of Assam 6-1, 6-0 and top seed Hrykpb came back from a set behind to overcome third seed state mate Kritanta Sarma 1-6, 6-4, 6-2.

In under-12 boys' singles final, Manipur lad Rahul Pamei defeated Sandeep S. Kadam of Maharashtra 6-1, 6-3.

Fourth seed Pamei had defeated sixth seed Arunesh Bora of Assam 7-5, 2-6, 6-4, fifth seed Sandeep upset third seed Anchit Gogoi of Assam 6-1, 6-3 in the semi-final yesterday.

Kickboxing meet: The Assam Kickboxing Association is organising an All- Assam Inter-College Kickboxing Championship from July 15 to July 17 to promote the sport throughout the state.

Biswajit Kakoti, the general secretary of the association said, "We have selected two venues in Guwahati for the championship - Pragjyotish College and LOG Hindi High School. The participants will be selected from every district. We will also select the state representatives in national tournaments."
