Guwahati, Aug. 6: Bollywood actor Raghubir Yadav will stage his play Piano, a Hindi adaptation of a Hungarian drama penned by Ferenc Karinthy here tomorrow.

Yadav, who worked in films like Lagaan and Dil Se, is in the city with his team to stage his play on the concluding day of Nataxurjya Phani Sarma Drama Festival at Rabindra Bhawan tomorrow.

There will be two shows of the play — at 5pm and 8pm.

Yadav, who has directed the play besides playing one of the three characters in it, hoped that the play would be able to give answer to the people of this modern age on how to encounter loneliness.

“There is multiple ways to fight loneliness. The play will throw light on one’s loneliness and his ways how to confront it,” said Yadav.

The festival completed 18 successful years and has presented a handful of selected plays in its 19th edition this year. Last year, the organisers of Nataxurjya Phani Sarma Drama Festival celebrated golden jubilee of mobile theatre in Assam.

The play is about a person who works whole day in a library and returns empty to an empty home in the evening. His wife has deserted him and he has no friends. One day he comes across an advertisement where a piano is on sale. He dials the number given in the advertisement and is answered by a lady and the story begins from there.

Yadav, who spent six years of his life with a Parsi theatre group, which also kept changing its venues like the mobile theatres in Assam, plans to see rehearsal of some mobile theatres in and around the city.

Appreciating the role of theatre in his life, Yadav said theatre was an art that helped an aspiring actor to understand him and explore his potentials. “That is why I always wish to be with theatre,” he said.
