Q I have been married for 10 years now but have not travelled anywhere since our honeymoon. l love to travel as my parents would take us out of station during the summer holidays. My son, who is eight years now has, however, never gone out on a single holiday. I feel bad for him, but unfortunately, my husband is a total workaholic and has neither the time nor the inclination. Since my marriage, my travel luck seems to have dwindled considerably. Kindly suggest ways to make my husband enjoy travelling so that we all can enjoy with him. Should some particular days be kept in mind when remedies or enhancements are done?

Sunita Phukan

A: The northwest sector of the house is undoubtedly the best that helps to activate your travel luck. First check that this corner does not fall out of the house. If so, energise this sector by lavishly using earthen and metallic objects. As the northwest is ruled by strong movement, enhance it further with metallic wind chimes, bells and pendulum or revolving clocks. Place brochures of holiday packages, pictures or models of trains or planes along with an illuminated globe. Also place your passports in a yellow folder here in case you would like to travel abroad, along with a well-packed suitcase and a family photo near it.

Fullmoon days are considered the best time for applying any kind of remedy or enhancement, but astrologically, the best days are those when the planets move forward as they ensure a speedy, sure and positive result.

Q: We have a large house with a huge basement underneath. With no windows, it is dark and dingy. It has been converted into a beautiful den that has good lighting, comfortable sofas, a music system, LCD and home theatre. The southern wall has been elaborately adorned with family photographs. Initially, everyone was excited about the newly done room, but now no one wants to go there. What could be the problem with the den? Please suggest a way out.

Anamika Bora

A: Basements are normally considered as the yin areas that carry cold energy. The ones that do not have windows are even worse.

Basements should be used for storage purpose or for occasional formal parties but it is not a good idea to have a den where the family would like to sit together and enjoy. You could also convert it into a gym with large mirrors on the northern and the eastern walls. The yin energy of the basement can be stimulated with mirrors and workout machines.

Family photographs should never be placed in dark and dingy basements as these are reminders of the good times and are best placed in yang areas like living rooms or bedrooms which are on the ground floor or well-lit upper floors. Always remember that family photographs are most conducive to strong bonding when displayed on the eastern wall.
