Hailakandi, July 29: A five-day table tennis coaching camp, which began at the indoor sports complex of Udharbond in Cachar district on Sunday, concluded last evening. The camp was part of the Stag-TTFI One Million Players by 2020 Project.
It was conducted by Parag Ankolekar, a TTFI level-I coach from Mumbai. Altogether 80 table tennis players, including 22 girls from different parts of the Barak Valley participated in the camp. It was organised by the Udharbond Table Tennis Club.
Four trainees - Kajari Kar, Sankar Dey, Priyangshu Nath and Hirakjyoti Roy - were selected as talented players from the camp and felicitated in the concluding ceremony.
Stag International, a sports equipment company, has also announced that it will run a coaching academy at Udharbond Table Tennis Club for the next three years, said Pranabananda Das, a senior member of the club.
Assam team
The Assam Roll Ball Association today named that state squad for the 10th Junior (under-17) National Roll Ball Championship to be held at Kollam in Kerala from August 12 to 14. The squad comprises: Boys - Sanjib Kumar (captain), BA Kargil, Ramu Bordoloi, Deepjyoti Saikia, Manash Gogoi, Rahul Kathar, Gaurav Das, Saurav Paul and Anurag Basfor. Girls - Alisha Farheen (captain), Manisha Pradhan, Nikita Barua, Bonie Ahad, Kriti Choraria, Ranjita Barman, Adrisha Jalan, Jhanvi Mazumdar, Sudipta Das and Suhani Borah.
