Student from Assam commits suicide in Bangalore

A student from Assam’s North Lakhimpur district allegedly committed suicide in Bangalore on Tuesday.

Lopamudra Neog, 19, a student of business management, was found hanging from the ceiling fan in her rented apartment in block 7 of Arya Hamsa Apartments under Koramangala police station. The police have registered a case.

Lopamudra was the daughter of Hemanta Kumar Neog, a retired police officer from Chamua village in Lakhimpur district.

Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to Twitter to request Karnataka chief minister B.S. Yediyurappa to help the family in bringing the body to Assam.

“It will be done,” the Karnataka director-general of police said in reply to Sarma’s tweet.
