SAI athletes keep top spot with 17 gold
Guwahati: Sports Authority of India (SAI) SC continued to lead the tally on Day Two of the Ranji Gogoi Guwahati Sports Association athletics meet with 17 gold, nine silvers and six bronzes. Bongaon Krira Santha, who were in the fourth place on Day One, jumped to the second position with eight gold, five silvers and seven bronzes. Maharana Athletics Club with seven gold, 12 silver and eight bronzes are in the third position, while Young Blue Club are fourth with five gold, three silver and a bronze. Rinkumoni Gogoi, Namita Dihingia, Baruna Sinha, Dipsikha Talukdar, Tinku Handique and Guna Gaurav Chetia won gold medals for SAI on Thursday. SAI runners annexed the gold in both men and women?s 4x400m relay. Maharana AC dominated men?s long-distance with Amzad Ali Ahmed, Susankar Rabha and Aynul Haque bagging the 1,500m gold, silver and bronze. Ahmed, Rabiul Hussain and Haque annexed the 5,000m on Wednedsay. Moniram Rabha, Prasanta Rabha, Dhiraj Boro and Durgeswar Boro claimed the five gold medals for Bongaon on Thursday.Sporting lift Martyrs Cup
Kokrajhar: Mohamme-dan Sporting of Calcutta lifted the fifth Bodoland Martyrs Gold Cup, defeating Assam Rifles via sudden death here on Thursday. The teams were tied 3-3 at the end of normal time. Guwahati/ Hailakandi: Tinsukia entered the pre-quarterfinals of the Amarjit Sarma Trophy (under-15) inter-district cricket meet, beating Karbi Anglong by 78 runs on Thursday.
