Meghalaya Olympic panel reconstituted
Guwahati: The Meghalaya State Olympic Association’s general executive was reconstituted at a meeting in Shillong recently. Chief minister D.D. Lapang was elected chief patron, while sports minister Paul Lyngdoh became president. H.D. Warjri of Meghalaya Amateur Athletics Association was elected working president, while D. Syiemlieh of the Meghalaya Football Association was made general secretary. R.S. Mawlong of the All Meghalaya Karate-Do Association, B. Deingdoh of the football association and T.P. Nongrum of the Meghalaya Hockey Association were elected vice-presidents. S. Leong of the karate association was named treasurer, while A. Tariang of the Archery Association of Meghalaya is the joint secretary. The executive members comprises C.W. Dunai of the Meghalaya Basketball Association, M.G. Hynniewta of the Meghalaya Weightlifting Association, C. Choudhuri of the Meghalaya State Table Tennis Association, L.P. Warjri of the Meghalaya Judo Association, F. Marwein of the Meghalaya Gymnastics Association and T. Nongkhlaw of the Meghalaya Fencing Association.Talent hunt
Guwahati: The Assam Hockey Association will send 15 under-18 and under-20 players to an all-India talent hunt programme, organised by the Indian Hockey Federation, in Lucknow from July 22. The select players have been asked to report in Nagaon on Sunday.The players: Bir Singh Teron, Shyamal Singh, Deepak Medhi, Moon Hazarika, Pankaj Dutta, Prabir Sen, Sourav Jyoti Goswami, Bijoy Sankar Doomai, Durlav Nath, Prakash Das, Mantu Das, Chinmoy Boro, Sanjoy Sonar, Bir Abhimonyu and Arup Kumar Nath.
District meet
Guwahati: The All Style Karate-Do Association, Assam, has decided to organise its inter-district meet next month. The association has asked its affiliated units to prepare their players for the meet, which will be a dress-rehearsal for the state team for the 19th national karate meet in September in Goa.
