Guwahati, March 6: A three-day exhibition Life and Works — Passions and Impressions — on the creations of veteran sculptor Biren Singha began at Dighalipukhuri today.
The exhibition, which showcases photographs of Singha’s works, was inaugurated by writer Homen Borgohain. Though all were photographs, only one original sculpture is on display at the venue.
Singha said many of his works were a thoughtful expression of the life of indigenous community, which was a spontaneous outcome of his more than three-decade-long association with the “peaceful” Karbi community.
The sculptures of Singha are installed in different places of the state because of which his admirers cannot get to see them.
“There have been demands from my fans to do something so that they can see all my creations. That is why I have decided to hold this exhibition,” he said.
“Diphu in Karbi Anglong is the place which I have visited most in Assam. The person whom I meet most in Diphu is Biren Singha, albeit not personally but through his works which are found everywhere in the town,” Borgohain said.
