Imphal, Jan. 2: Seven police teams from the country have confirmed their participation in the 26th All-India Police Equestrian meet which will be held at the Imphal Pologround from January 4 to 9.
The teams include Uttar Pradesh, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, Assam Rifles, Punjab Police, Border Security Force, Delhi Police and Manipur Police.
The biggest contingent will be from Assam Rifles, which will send a 32-member team along with 16 horses.
The meet would feature 27 events.
Most of the events will be held at the Imphal Pologround. The cross-country race will be held at the Manipur Pony Breeding Farm complex located at Lamphelpat on January 8.
The meet will be held with technical support from Equestrian Federation of India and Manipur Equestrian Association. The All-India Police Control Board will sponsor the meet.
Hosts Manipur have decided to send five riders with M. Jawan as the team captain. S. Bimol, H. Abung Khuman, Th. Romen and Y. Pradip Singh are the other riders.
Tent-pegging: Altogether 10 riders have been selected to represent India in the International Tent-Pegging championship to be held at Imphal between January 10 and 14.
Suresh Kumar and Shasidharan K. of Indo-Tibetan Border Police, Jaswinder Singh, Jagdish Singh, Youngbir Singh and Talwinder Singh of Punjab Police, Vivek Rehni and Omprakash of Army Supply Corps, North Gaya, Jaswinder Singh of BSF and Jitender Singh of Army Supply Corps C&C, Bangalore, have been selected.
