Chief minister Tarun Gogoi hands over an award to Anima Guha (in UB Photos above), wife of poet and economist professor Amalendu Guha, at a function to mark the 115th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on Monday.
Guha could not attend the programme because he is unwell.
Organised by Greater Assam Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Birthday Celebration Committee, eminent folklorist Birendra Nath Dutta and dramatist Arun Sarma also received the award.
“Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose is one of the greatest patriots India has every produced. His indomitable courage and supreme sacrifice for the sake of the country continues to motivate and inspire millions of Indians and elsewhere in the world,” Gogoi said.
PHE minister Gautam Roy and Gauhati East MLA Robin Bordoloi inaugurated Netaji Subhas Road Sarabhati to Lakhara.
An NGO, Rashtriya Ekta-Sadbhamna Mission, North East Region, distributed walking canes to 10 visually-impaired persons. The group also gave away around 3,000 shawls during the programme.
