RJ Academy enter final

Guwahati, June 24: RJ Academy thumped Little Angels English School by eight wickets to sail into the final of the Pobin Chandra Gayan inter-school cricket tournament at Latasil playground here today.

Put to bat in the second semi-final, the Little Angels posted 150 for seven in the stipulated 20 overs.

Abhijit Barman remained unbeaten on a whirlwind 66 off 45 balls while Suraj Kumar struck a brisk 62 (46 balls).

Both kept the aggression going despite wickets falling at regular intervals. Abhijit hit four sixes and four boundaries while Suraj dealt in sixes, striking seven of them.

For RJ Academy, left arm spinner Rudra Sharma stemmed the run flow to an extent taking two wickets for 19 in three overs.

In reply, RJ reached their target with ease, posting 154 for two in just 14.5 overs. Opener Mauzzam Ansari led the way with an unbeaten 88 off just 50 balls.

His blitzkrieg knock was laced with seven boundaries and five sixes. Surinder Singh gave him valuable support at the other end with 34 off 29 balls. He hit three fours and a six.

RJ will take on Assam Valley English High School in the summit clash tomorrow. Assam Valley had defeated CK Academy by 31 runs in the first semi-final yesterday.
