Guwahati, Oct. 3: The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) this evening included Palashjyoti Das in the list of 44 probables for the trial-cum-selection camp for the Ranji team to be held at Nehru Stadium starting on October 12.

The inclusion of the talented but temperamental Das, a former India under-15 player and captain during the pre-season exposure trip, assumes significance because he has been suspended for the first three Ranji matches.

ACA secretary Bikash Baruah said though the suspension has not been lifted, Das can attend the trial camp so that he can remain physically fit. The selectors can take a close look at him if his services are required in the season ahead.

Sources indicated that Das’ inclusion only proves that he is still in the selectors’ “radar”.

“Now he has to remain fit and show his hunger to return to the team. The ACA has done a good thing by inviting him to the nets because the brawl during the exposure trip for which he was suspended was not started by him, according to sources,” an ACA official said.

Among the probables are two newcomers — batsman Vishal Tyagi from Hailakandi and bowler Vikrant Yadav of Silchar. It also included the three outstation recruits — Anand Katti, Jacob Martin and R.R. Parida and six wicketkeepers, of which three — Kunal Saikia, Rajdeep Das and Nur Alam Sheikh — are also in the under-22 probables list. “We need to watch all of them,” Baruah said.
