Guwahati, March 9: Former champions Pratidin tamed Dainik Jugasangha by 72 runs in a Group-D match of the ongoing ninth Guwahati Press Club inter-media cricket meet at Latasil Ground today.

Pratidin elected to bat first and scored 166 for five in 20 overs. In reply, the Jugasangha batsmen were restricted to a mere 94 runs, losing seven wickets in 20 overs.

Manjit Sarma topscored for Pratidin with an unbeaten 37. Rana Sarma (31), Jagjit Singh (29) and Biswajit Deka (20) were the other main scorers for the side. Prasenjit Nath and Dipjyoti Talukdar shared two wickets each, giving away 30 and 31 runs respectively.

Dipjyoti Talukdar later topscored for Jugasangha with 21 runs, while Samsul Ali and Dipjyoti Patowari chipped in with individual knocks of 19 and 18 respectively.

Bidyut Kalita and Tauhid Ali Talukdar of Pratidin shared two wickets each for two and 14 runs respectively.

GL Publication face Sentinel, while Janambhumi meet Outstation Journalists on Monday.
