
Guwahati: Assam government employees posted in Guwahati will get house rent allowance (HRA) at the rate of 10 per cent of their pay (pay band plus grade pay).
Employees posted in the district and sub-divisional headquarters will get HRA at the rate of eight per cent of their pay and others at the rate of seven per cent of their pay.
Finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday said the state government has agreed to pay the revised rate of HRA as recommended by the Pay Anomaly Committee.
The state cabinet had accepted the recommendations of the committee on June 1.
The committee was constituted by the state government under the chairmanship of retired IAS officer P.K. Dutta to consider the grievances of the employees and to examine anomalies in the recommendation of 7th Assam Pay and Productivity Pay Commission. The committee had submitted its report in December last year.
Sarma said the government has also accepted the committee's recommendation to pay the drivers posted in Assam Bhawans and Assam Houses in other states an overtime allowance of Rs 20 per hour for working beyond their usual eight hours of duty.
The other recommendations of the committee accepted by the government are payment of hill area allowance to the employees posted in Assam House in Shillong and special teaching allowance to the teachers of Deaf and Dumb School.
Sarma said trained graduate teachers of lower primary, junior basic and pre-primary schools will get a grade pay of Rs 7,400 while untrained graduate teachers and trained undergraduate teachers of these schools will get grade pay of Rs 6,800 and untrained undergraduate teachers will get grade pay of Rs 6,200.
Trained graduate teachers of middle English, middle vernacular, senior basic schools will get a grade pay of Rs 8,700 while untrained graduate teachers and trained undergraduate teachers of these schools will get a grade pay of Rs 6,800 and untrained undergraduate teachers will get a grade pay of Rs 6,200.
"Graduate teachers of high school and higher secondary schools will get a special allowance of Rs 300," the minister said.
