NISA enter quarter-final

North Imphal Sporting Association beat FC Zalen 2-1 to move into the quarter-final of the second phase of 11th Manipur State League, 2016, played on knockout basis at main stadium, Khuman Lampak.

Imphal, Nov. 10: North Imphal Sporting Association beat FC Zalen 2-1 to move into the quarter-final of the second phase of 11th Manipur State League, 2016, played on knockout basis at main stadium, Khuman Lampak.

However, despite the defeat, FC Zalen still have a chance to fight for the title, given the double elimination format.

FC Zalen got the breakthrough in the 18th minute #when NISA's Shahabaz brought down Zalen's Ng. Bedeenpar Moyon inside the danger zone for a penalty. Patrick Kamei made no mistake in converting it.

However, NISA equalised soon after through David K.C. Ngaithe after collecting a cross from S. Manimohon, snaked through defenders to push home the equaliser in the 27th minute to level the score 1-1 in the first half.

NISA consolidated in the 54th minute when L. Milan Singh's cross from the left found David KC Ngaithe, who shot home the winner.

Inter-district football: Imphal West District Football Association beat DSA, Bishnupur, 2-0 in the opening match of the 20th Sub-Junior Boys' Inter-District Football Tournament, 2016, played at artificial turf, Khuman Lampak.

L. Kheljit and N. Engson scored the winning goal for Imphal West team.

In another match, Imphal East District Football Association beat DFA, Thoubal, 3-1.

Kh. Faruk Shah scored a brace while Th. Jameson fetched a goal for Imphal East team while the lone goal for Thoubal was fetched by Dhanchandra Singh.
