Imphal, Nov. 7: Nambul Mapal Cultural Organisation beat United Sporting Association 2-1 in the 11th Manipur State League, 2016, on artificial turf, Khuman Lampak.

Nambul Mapal Cultural Organisation collected 13 points from 11 matches while United Sporting Association have seven.

Nambul Mapal Cultural Organisation got cracking in the added time when Th. Modhumangol Singh fired in the first salvo in the 47th minute for the lead in the first half.

But United Sporting Association came back strongly from a penalty in the 51st minute with N. Premjit Singh to level the score 1-1. Th. Modhumangol came up with his second goal in the 85th minute for the victory.

In another match, FC Zalen drubbed Sagolband United 2-0. FC Zalen collected 22 points and Sagolband United have 10 points from 11 matches.

FC Zalen opened their account in the 17th minute when Ng. Bedeenpar Moyon ruffled the net. FC Zalen consolidated in the 28th minute when Lamgoulen beat the keeper with able assistance from Patrick Kamei for the win today.

In yesterday's match, Neroca FC beat KLASA Keinou 2-1 while in another match, Young Physique Union beat Anouba Imagi Mangal 2-1.

Boxing: National Sports Academy, Imphal claimed the champion's title in the Imphal East District-Level Boxing Championship, 2016, at Boxing Arena, Khuman Lampak.

National Sports Academy, Imphal, finished with 13 gold medals for 52 points while KMDC fetched the runners-up title winning eight gold for 36 points and NBA came third with 19 points in the meet.

In the last day of the meet, NSA Imphal boxers Kh. Sushanta Singh beat Th. Sadananda of KABA for the gold in the sub-junior final of the 54-57kg while Roshan Tongbram beat Borish Athokpam of KABA in the junior 56-60kg while T. Menao Meitei beat A. Maikel Meitei of KMDC in the junior men's 60-64 kg category.

The SSC team also claimed two gold with S. Rohit Singh beating T. Pritam of KMDC in the 48-50kg while O. Maikel Meitei beat A. Ronaldo of SSC(A) in the 50-52kg sub junior men's category. The INJC team fetched two gold medals with Kh. Sanayaima in the 60-63kg in the sub-junior men's and Kh. Manihar Singh in the junior men's 64-69kg category.
