Aizawl, July 14: The Mizoram People?s Conference party has accused chief minister Zoramthanga of being ?mild? during his meeting with the Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi.
Zoramthanga had said after a meeting with Gogoi that there was a misunderstanding on some areas of the boundary between Assam and Mizoram and that this was a dispute that should not be settled in a hurry.
However, chief secretary Haukhum Hauzel, tried to defend Zoramthanga by saying that he had clearly pointed out to Gogoi that the people would only accept the 1875 regulation as Mizoram?s area of demarcation. He added that the chief minister had explained the situation to Gogoi, where two streams had become part of the boundary dispute.
Hauzel said Gogoi advocated third party intervention in the matter.
