Silchar, Dec. 4: Mizoram is ready for one of its most awaited festivals - Thalfavang Kut - which is associative with agricultural cycle.
The three-day festival, to begin on December 10 at Tuirial Airfield in Aizawl, will witness adventurous sports events and cultural performances. The festival, which is organised by the Mizoram tourism department, provides an opportunity to the people residing in the far-flung areas of the state to participate in various events and showcase their talents.
Tourism officer Rachel Lalrinhlui today told The Telegraph that the preparation was going on in full swing for the festival.
She said the festival would comprise different events, including archery, shooting, hand gliding, paragliding, aero-model exhibition, handloom and handicraft exhibition, live musical band shows, and cultural programmes.
The Mizoram Motor Sports Association is organising a two-wheeler and a four-wheeler car rally as part of the festival.
She said a host of musical bands have been invited to take part in the concert, which will begin at 2.30pm in all the three days.
The organising committee held a meeting yesterday under the chairmanship of Mizoram tourism minister John Rotluangliana. The members of the committee later visited the venue of the festival and took stock of the present situation and progress of work.
Rotluangliana will inaugurate the festival on December 10 at noon.
"The entire state takes part in the festival. It provides a vibrant platform for enjoyment to the people," Rachel added.
